Hmm...tocmai am aflat ca la sfarsitul anului mi se inchide robinetul si nu o sa mai am de munca...cam prost timingul tocmai de sarbatori sa fiu dat afara :)...asta este, viata merge mai departe, sa nu uitam ca fiecare sut in fund este un pas inainte ;o)

It’s official. Bellevue has been named one of the geekiest cities in the country.
The Seattle-Bellevue area ranked No. 10 on a listing of “America’s Top 20 Geekiest Cities”.
The list was based on the National Science Foundation’s “Science and Engineering Indicators: 2010″ report, which focused on the percentage of the population with careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
According to Forbes, 167,060 workers in the Seattle-Bellevue area — 11.8 percent of the workforce — have careers in the aforementioned fields.

Se pare ca educatia din Statele Unite in continuare un magnet de cel mai inalt standard in lume. Conform ultimelor studii, China si India sunt lideri in trimiterea studentilor in Statele Unite. Mai jos este un excerpt al articolului cu pricina:
“Because of the excellence and diversity of our colleges and universities, more students worldwide are choosing to study in the United States,” said Ann Stock, Assistant Secretary of State (R). “Young people who study abroad gain the global skills necessary to create solutions to 21st Century challenges. In turn, international students globalize our campuses and communities.”
“It is positive news that our higher education institutions continue to excel in attracting students from all over the world, and in preparing American students to succeed in an increasingly global environment,” said Allan Goodman, President and CEO of the Institute of International Education. “Educational exchange in both directions furthers business and cultural ties between the United States and other countries.”
Chinese student enrollment in the United States rose to a total of nearly 158,000 students, or nearly 22 percent of the total international student population, making China the leading sending country for the second year in a row. Students from India, the second largest international cohort in the United States, decreased by one percent to a total of nearly 104,000. Yet, India, as a destination for U.S. students study abroad, increased 44.4 percent. While slightly declining in numbers, students from India still represent 14 percent of all international students in U.S. higher education, with tens of thousands more students from India in U.S. higher education than in any other host country. South Korea is the third leading place of origin, with more than 73,000 students, increasing by two percent and making up 10 percent of the total.
Together, the top three sending countries–China, India and South Korea–comprise nearly half (46 percent) of the total international enrollments in U.S. higher education. Canada, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Japan each represent approximately three to four percent of the total international student population, with these top seven places of origin comprising about 60 percent of the total. “

Iarna
S-a racit vremea si la noi. Nu, nu a ajuns sub zero grade dar sta la un constant 7 - 8C. De dimineata am avut gheata pe parbriz, slava domnului ca nu am avut prea mult ca sa trebuiasca sa il curat. Pisica dormea cu burta in sus de dimineata, la fel si cateaua care nici gand sa vrea sa iasa in curte.
Deja se simte in aer venirea iernii si o data cu ea si pregatirea pentru sarbatorile de iarna. Dupa cum vad peste tot decoratii pentru Craciun (in California chiar aveau si pe Mos Craciun prin malluri), se pare ca Thanksgiving este considerata deja sarbatoare de iarna.
Deci in curand o sa incep si pregatirile pentru Thanksgiving, de data asta o sa am mai multi oameni invitati asa ca o sa cumpar un curcan mai mare ca de obicei, sunt chiar curios daca oasele de curcan sunt bune pentru catea. Stiu ca alea de pui pot fi daunatoare dar ma gandesc ca alea de curcan sunt mai mari deci mai safe.

Cali
Weekendul asta am fost in California pentru niste evenimente de familie. Vremea identica cu Seattle, poate chiar in Seattle a fost putin mai cald si insorit :D, ceea ce i-a panicat de tot pe californieni. De data asta am stat si sa ma holbez la preturi si am ramas uimit sa vad ca fructele si vegetalele sunt mai scumpe ca in Wa state cu toate ca si noi le cumparam tot de la ei. Ce este foarte ieftin in schimb sunt medicamentele si bauturile alcoolice - weird...

Incepand din iunie anul viitor, guvernul este scos din vanzarea bauturilor alcoolice. Saptamana trecuta a fost trimis un pachet de legi la fiecare cetatean din judet sa voteze daca guvernul ar trebui scos din vanzarea si controlul bauturilor alcoolice. Se pare ca majoritatea au votat sa fie scos, asa ca Good Bye Government from Liquor Stores. Pana acuma in magazinele private - supermarketuri sau nu, se putea vinde numai vin sau bere. Bauturile tari se vand in magazine care sunt proprietatea guvernului. Prin legea cea noua oricine poate vinde bauturi alcoolice de orice fel. Aceasta noua lege o sa aduca preturi mai mici si o varietate mai mare a produselor.
In tara comunista de mai la nord - Canada, nici macar bere nu poti cumpara intr-un magazin care nu este proprietatea guvernului, deci inca o data America arata ca vointa cetatenilor este stapana pe legile tarii.
